Well, not a complete title exactly, but our hero has a name: Kevin Spaydeck. It's kinda funny that every other character's name in the book came right out of the air (in one case, off the back of a freight truck) but this one has taken months to come up with. Any way, i have a solid grasp on the events that occurr, and what order they happen in. At the moment I'm still swimming in napkins, random scraps and bits of paper, even some calculus notes with doodles in the margins that are my potential ideas. I'm setting a deadline for myself that by the end of May i will have started on the actual, pretty looking script of it all.
The most fun i'm having right now is the character developement. I enjoy molding little people into complex thought having beings. And deciding how they look and dress! No one says no to my fashion advice and personal tastes, which is a nice change indeed. So now for your viewing pleasure, i present 3 of our players in this tale of doom, panic, and nervous decisions:

On the right we have "Betsy; the Messenger and the Aide" I've known what she looked like the longest, but she is a 'shapeshifter' kinda, well, she's not human, so she can look like whatever she wants. To the left of her is my first sketch of "Edoiun" who is a minor character at the moment. she's a girl from Kevin's past, and has no cool powers. the bomb might be a trademark for Betsy. Oh, and Betsy was drawn with a brush, i'm proud of that because i can rarely make brushes bend to my will.

This is Edouin again, she's sittin on a bench being sad for reasons unknown to you. This is more or less how I want her to look. Please excuse my inability to draw an entire person in proportion. I have this uncontrollable habit of starting at the head and slowly making everything smaller as i work my way down.

This is Betsy and Kevin; this is their first official meeting of eachother, Kevin is kinda wierded out because Betsy is the bearer of bad news, realy bad news. And don't let the jacket fool you, Kevin really isn't that cool. For some reason this image was freakishly huge, and it got kinda pixely when i resized it. I'm not the computer type..

hope you enjoyed my picture show.

~ian

Greetings to all two or three of you...

Boy Amazing has been sent to timeout until I figure out what he has done. Until then I will continue working on a different project that is going swimmingly (at the moment). I don't know what to call this endeavor, but I do know that it's old title does not fit it. The name didn't flow very well, and drew an unwanted parallel to a Daniel Clowes book (I don't want to look like I am ripping off my favorite author). So I've been calling the main character in my notes "Our Hero" and though that name won't stick, I guess that's what I'll call it.
Anyway, the story is based on my infatuation with wanting to know when you die, though very different from another short-lived project that none of you know about that may make an appearance later in my life. So "Our Hero" wakes up one Thursday morning and is told that it is his last day to live, that sometime between now and midnight, he will die. No question about it. So the story is what he will do with his last day, what everyone around him will do, and how much of his final affairs will become 'did'.
What will this story be? Happy? Sad? Exciting? Dramatic? Comical? Suspensions? Probably a healthy mix of those, but I'm not entirely sure. I know the beginning (Point A) and the end (Point Z), and a scarce few other coordinates in between. The hard part is trying to figure out how to draw that damn line that connects them all in a logical manner. Well, that's the hardest part before you start to draw it...

Wish me luck,

~ian

hello all

this will be a site for my infant child, Boy Amazing!
so enjoy the updates, while few and far between.

~ian
